THE POINT
One of my favorite things about this Brand is the reaction people have to it. I asked a woman if she had any questions while browsing our shirts at a Market and she paused, turned, and said, “Yeah, I have a question… Why?”. I laughed and told her that there is no agenda, no ulterior motive, just a universal truth that makes people smile. That’s it. Or at least that’s why it started. Where it’s grown is more into the space of reminding us that we are all the same, that we all have commonalities, we all are just old babies, pretending that we have everything figured out, when we actually don’t.
I suppose this brand is just trying to bring a pause to the day-to-day and remind of us that, all while bringing a smile to people’s faces.

THE ORIGIN STORY
06.11.2021
“Back in the Fall of 2017, I had tickets to go to “Camp Flog Gnaw” out in LA. At the time I was working at a Print Shop and thought that it would be fun to print something custom to bring with me in my travels. So, I printed “I USED TO BE A BABY” on 2 Shirts and went to the festival.
Why that? Because this phrase spawned from a joke between my Sister and I about a different kind of haunted house where the people scaring you didn’t just yell at you when they popped out, but instead they would shout really strange observations like, “I’m allergic to chocolate!” and “I used to be a baby!” the second example became something that was said between us quite often. I really enjoyed the odd + beautiful feeling that resulted in thinking about it.
The shirts were met with smiles, comments, convos and connections out at the festival. I honestly didn’t expect the response, I just wanted to share something of my own with a crowd of like-minded people. The response out there followed me back home to FL, where friends and family all shared the same positive reaction.
In a Post-2020 world, it’s worth taking a chance and making Ideas turn into a reality, so here is a whole Brand around this idea. My hope is that others will share my liking to this sentiment and want to spread the smiles to more than just my circle.”
